We are excited to host the second year of Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh’s Grow in Fiber Grant.
What makes this grant so exciting is that it is an opportunity for artists of any background to explore or expand their skills in the fiber arts.
Who hasn’t toyed with investing in new equipment or tools? Who hasn’t longed to spend time with other artists building skills in a workshop? And who among us hasn’t had their artistic intentions limited by material costs? This grant allows two artists per year to define how $500 would expand their art practice.
For some inspiration, please check out this video from Rona Chang, one of our 2023 grant recipients.
This year, we have three exciting jurors to introduce:
Sean Derry is the head of sculpture at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Sean’s sculptural installations are informed by environmental messaging.
Ruthann Farinacci is a long-term educator at North Hills Art Center. Ruthann specializes in landscape weaving.
Barbara Westman is a faculty member at Slippery Rock University and a former Fiberart International Participant. Barbara’s background is in print making and fiber arts.
The Grow in Fiber Grant Deadline is April 20 at 11:59 pm.
