Membership

Membership in the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh is open to anyone at any time.

Out of concern for the health and safety of our membership and our community, we will continue to err on the side of caution in regards to our scheduled programming. Many of our programs are online at this moment.

Members’ benefits

Guild programs

  • Lecture Series – A monthly lecture with local, national, and international presenters. 
  • Show and Share – For members who don’t want suggestions, they just want to show off and share what they are working on with their peers.  
  • Artist/Maker Critique – For members who want constructive suggestions about their work or to solve technical, aesthetic or presentation problems.
  • ThrEd talks – A new series focused on technique, technology, innovation, education, and design in fiber.
  • Professional Artist /Maker Program Series  –  Workshops and Presentations on photography, artist statements, preparing applications, getting your XYT together! 

Membership exhibition

  • A juried annual members’ exhibition.

Workshops

  • Fiber-related workshops organized by the guild.
  • Discounts at fiber-related workshops at Contemporary Craft.

Annual Potluck

  • Share a meal with fellow members.
  • Clean your studio and donate your items to the guild.
  • Get some great bargains from fellow fiber enthusiasts.

Online

  • Join the members-only Facebook group to share information.
  • Monthly e-blast to your inbox with information about upcoming events.
  • On our website:
    • Calls for Entry – A comprehensive list with fiber-related opportunities updated every two months.
    • Access to all recorded lectures from the Lecture Series.
    • Access to Members Directory.
    • Get your own website listed.

Grow in Fiber Grant

  • Apply for one of two $500 Scholarships given annually to encourage exploration and growth in members’ creative  process.

Fiberart International

An international, very well recognized, exhibition and conference.

  • Get a chance to interact with international artists
  • First dibs on registration to FI related events, like the Forum and lectures.
  • A chance to learn by volunteering to the many aspects this event entails.

Membership privileges include voting and election to the Board of Directors. All Members are asked to support Guild activities and exhibitions by serving on at least one committee.

Membership is  $45 (Active) or $20 (Student/Struggling artist) for a yearly membership.
You must join and renew your membership online.
