Wednesday, May 20: Rachel Rose: Lake Valley
Carnegie Museum of Art is launching its first-ever online exhibition series dedicated to its film and video collection. The series debuts with “Lake Valley,” a video work by Rachel Rose, who was featured in the 57th Carnegie International and the 2017 Venice Biennale. Inspired by 18th- and 19th-century children’s literature, Rose’s dream-like works explore timely themes of loneliness, imagination and personal connection. The online exhibit will be accompanied by virtual educational activities for all ages.

A Pay-What-You-Can ProgramA special presentation on the history of the Artwear movement by curator and SJMQT board member Melissa Leventon, inspired by her 2005 exhibition Artwear: Fashion and Anti-Fashion at the Legion of Honor, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.

Melissa has authored or contributed to many exhibition catalogs and journals and teaches fashion history and theory at California College of the Arts. From 2006-2018 she was a senior consultant to the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles in Bangkok.
