Threadpainting: Embellishing & Playing with Wool
March 9 @ 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Learn simple embellishment techniques with Pam Bice and Barb Grossman.
We will be using basic needle felting techniques and threadpainting to embellish commercial panels or create an original 2-dimensional pieces with needle felting. We will discuss the different ways needle felting can be used to embellish quilts and supply options.
Commercial panels will be available for you to use, or you may bring a fabric panel of your choice. Wool rovings and other embellishments such as yarn thread will be available. An embellisher will be available to try out, but most of the needle felting will be done by hand.
Threadpainting will be demonstrated and used to highlight features of the cloth panel.
Mending a garment with needle felting will also be shown. No need to throw out a sweater with a hole or two! Bring a wool sweater that is thrifted or damaged, and we’ll explore how to turn it into a one of a kind garment. (If bringing a sweater with moth holes, please be sure to freeze it–in a plastic zip lock bag–for at least 48 hours to ensure there are no moths or moth eggs present in the fabric)

A modest material fee donation may be made to the instructor if you don’t have your own needle felting supplies (fabric, wool roving and needles)
