Fiber Interest Groups & More
May 4 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
As artists and makers, we often work alone, but we occasionally need to join with others who share our passion for textiles and art-making. One of the goals of the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh is to provide activities to bring members together to spark friendships and learning, to support our craft and each other.
Join us for an afternoon of making, learning, and community!
2-3 pm Knit and Crochet Fiber Interest Group
Join other Knit and Crochet-loving guild members to exchange ideas and see new work, and to find opportunities and community projects to increase the power of small stitches. Beginners are welcome!
2-3 pm Spinning and Carding Fiber Interest Group
This group shares a love of creating beautiful yarns and threads for weaving, knitting, crocheting or hand work from plant and animal fibers. They explore this sustainable craft using local sources and historical methods. Beginners are welcome!
2:30 pm Welcome and 3:00 Basic Design Essentials
Guild member and retired art teacher Barb Kubala shares suggestions and exercises to improve the design potential in our work no matter your fiber interest or experience. Join us as we learn and grow.
4-5 pm Fiber Feedback
Small group interactions offer members a safe place to show their finished work or work in progress, and to get whatever level or kind of advice they desire (or not–it’s up to the artist). At a Fiber Feedback you can ask for technical help or “show off “your latest accomplishment. What are you working on?
