Planning an FGP Exhibition & Critique Session
February 9, 2025 @ 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Join Carolyn Carson and Barb Kubala for an engaging and educational session designed to prepare you to help plan the guild’s upcoming juried show for fiscal year 25-26! For decades, this annual tradition has been a cornerstone of our community, and now it’s your chance to be part of it. Whether you’re interested in becoming a co-chair or joining the planning committee, this session will cover everything you need to know to create a successful guild exhibition.
Topics Covered:
• Finding and securing a gallery
• Collaborating with a juror
• Determining a theme and writing a prospectus
• Key timelines and steps involved in planning
Learn how to make volunteering for this rewarding project easier and more enjoyable by understanding the process. Planning a juried show is a fun and meaningful way to contribute to the guild while building valuable skills.
Following the exhibition planning meeting, we’ll host a formal critique session open to all. Bring artwork you’d like feedback on or simply attend to observe and learn. This is an opportunity to:
• Receive constructive, kind, and helpful feedback from peers
• Ask specific questions about your work
• Learn from critiques of others’ pieces
Moderators will ensure all feedback is supportive and aligned with each artist’s needs. After the critique, there will also be time for individuals to share work without seeking feedback. Whether you’re showcasing art or just enjoying the discussion, this session fosters learning, camaraderie, and inspiration within our artistic community.
This educational opportunity is free for FGP members.
Non-members pay $25 at the door.
