Denise Roberts is an artist whose medium is the quilt. She lives on a 38-acre farm in the mountains of West Virginia with her husband Rick. Inspiration comes from her environment. She says, “I drive on roads that make Italian road racing look easy. Our two lane highways can be very narrow and extremely curvy. I am influenced by these roads and by viewing the continuous curves of the landscape.” Denise hand dyes fabric for her stitched work during the summer months. She is a master of curvilinear piecing; her exquisite compositions are part of three series of works: Mitote, Sisu and Finding Connections. Her work has been in numerous art and textile exhibitions in Europe and the United States. She has won many awards, among them the coveted Japan Prize at Quilt National. In her presentation Denise will take us on her journey as an artist and bring actual work to show and share.
