End of the year Report

The end of the year approaches and I’d like to share what happened this last few months.

We organized our annual exhibition, Inspired! at Harlan gallery. Go to the Inspired! page to check out the work. Our guild has amazing artists!

We had a celebration for our own LaVerne Kemp. 40 years of weaving! A lot of people came to join us and shared great memories of her. We even got LaVerne’s favorite cake for her!

Yemisi Ajayi, a Nigerian fiber artist, learned traditional fiber techniques from her grandmother. She shared examples of Nigerian batik and adire indigo dying at a talk to Guild members and a hands-on workshop at Society for Contemporary Crafts. The most amazing examples were of raffia-stitched and starch-batik fabrics before and after dying.

And as always we enjoyed and learned form each other at the different critiques.

It was a good year!

And now a reminder of what’s to come: On January 4, 2019 we are meeting for lunch and a tour of Contemporary Craft‘s Transformations 10 exhibit. Check the Event’s post link for more information. You won’t want to miss all the fun!

Happy holidays to everyone! Happy new year! And see you in 2019!
